About the beach :
Anjuna is a tiny village in Goa, located on the coast of the Arabian Sea.
Situated 18 kms away from Panaji, the place is a known for its excellent
beach. One of the most popular beaches in India, Anjuna Beach is the ideal
place for holidaymakers. Also known as the 'Freak Capital of the World',
Anjuna gained popularity for its Trance parties and the hippies, who tried
to copy the spiritual traditions of the East and the art of the West. Arjuna
Beach was discovered by a group of tavellers in the late 1950s and mid 60s.
From then on a trend of full-moon parties begun here, which is the major
attraction for the tourists. The trance party with dance, frolic and
merriment continues throughout the night besides the fire. The calm sea
waters along with the golden sand beaches, provide an unmatched beauty to
Anjuna.
Best time to visit :
The climate of Goa remains almost similar throughout the year. The months
of April and May are warm, during the summers the temperature ranges from 24°C
to 35°C. December and January are winter months, when the temperature
ranges from 20°C to 30°C. While the period from June to October
brings monsoon. Anjuna beach can be visited any time of the year, but the
ideal time to visit the beach is from November to February.
Activities at the beach :

Beach offers several beach activities like bathing and beach side walking.
Bathing is generally considered safe at most of the beach area, but the
southern end of the beach is best for bathing, where a rocky headland keeps
the sea calm. Walking along the silver sands under the moon light provides
an unforgettable experience. Besides bathing and walking, watching the sun
set over the Arabian sea is another favourite activity here.
» Eating Out - Anjuna beach is flooded with several
eating joints and restaurants. Most of the eating joints offer fish and
western food. You can also enjoy cool beer, alongwith the exciting techno
music in the background.
» Entertainment & Leisure - Anjuna is the venue
for big parties that take place here throughout the year. The nightlife at
the Anjuna beach such as the Shore Bar, has a pounding sound system which
keep the atmosphere alive.
Added Attractions :
» Mascarenhas Mansion : The mansion has beautiful
riches, classic balconies and some nicely stained glass floral etchings.
Along the length of the porch there is a L-shaped seat made up of costly
wood.
» Wednesday Flea Market : The market held every
Wednesday transforms Anjuna into a colourful fair. The market is a paradise
for bargainers as well as hardcore shoppers. The shops here sell items like
Tibetan, Kashmiri and Gujarati trinkets and handicrafts, European snacks,
artificial ornaments carvings and clothes. In addition you can also enjoy
delicious Goan cuisine, such as prawns, pork vindaloo etc.
» Chapora Fort : Located close to the beach, the
fort offers the splendid view of the Anjuna and Vagator beaches. The fort
has been well preserved except some ruins.
» Albuquerque Mansion : Built in 1920, this massive
mansion is surrounded by octagonal towers and an attractive Mangalore
tile-roof.
