Baga Beach, Goa

About the beach :
Situated just 15 km away from Panaji, Baga Beach is a perfect destination for those who want some peace far from the chaos of other beaches. Baga beach is a small beach, but it is a good place to enjoy some peaceful time amidst the tranquil surroundings. The beach is originally an extension of Calangute beach, but is difficult to decide where one beach ends and the other begins. The only difference between these two beaches is that the scenery at Baga is more varied and beautiful. Apart, the river Baga crossing the beach from one side offers a picturesque sight.

Best time to visit :
As Goa is situated in the temperate zone the climate remains warm throughout the year. The temperature during summers rise up to a maximum of 35°C, while in winters it drops up to 19°C. It rains heavily during June- August, so the ideal time to visit the Baga Beach is November to February.


Activities at the beach :
Baga Beach offers several beachside activities like watersports, fishing etc. Spotting the backwater crocodile and dolphin at the mouth of Mandovi river is the favourite pastime for the travellers.

» Eating Out - The beach has many restaurants, range from standard beach shacks to swish pizzerias and terrace cafes. One can choose from a beachside candle-lit-dinner or a traditional Goan meal at the restaurants.

» Entertainment & Leisure - The nightlife of the Baga Beach is the liveliest in Goa, and is a perfect blend of the Goan and Western cultures. The beachside hotels offer dance floor and excellent sound system, which provide complete entertainment to tourists.

» Medical Springs - The water of the springs is believed to be medicinal. This is an ideal place for picnics and bathing.

» Baga Retreat House - Situated at the Baga hilltop, this is dedicated to St. Francis Xavier. The house overlooking the village and the sea is also known as the Casa de Retiros.

» Saturday flea market - The market held every Saturday, lasts till late night. The stalls in the market sell beautiful handicrafts and jewelleries.
