Geography of Goa :
Situated on the western coast of India, Goa is bounded by Maharashtra in the north, Karnataka in the south, the Western Ghats in the east, and the Arabian Sea in the West. The major rivers flowing through Goa are Tiracol, Mandovi, Zuari, Sal, Talpona, Galgibagh, and Chapora. Mayem and Carambolim are the famous lakes in Goa.


Climate of Goa :
Goa experiences a moderate climate throughout the year, with little variation in the temperature. The summer months of April and May are the hottest, when the temperature soars to a maximum of 35°C, while in winter months of December and January the temperature drops to a minimum of 19°C. The southwest monsoon brings heavy rains between the months of June and September.


Goa Culture :
The Goan culture is a blend of eastern and western traditions, influences and art forms. The Portuguese influence is dominant is the life of Goan, while music and dance is the important part of their life. Goa is world famous for its vibrant and psychedelic form of music known as Trance.


Goa Cuisine :
Goan cuisine is a combination of different cultures that evolved here for many centuries. The staple component of common Goan cuisine are rice, fish and coconut. The Goan people mostly like seafood like prawns, lobsters, crabs, and jumbo pomfrets. They use the seafood to make a variety of delicious soups, salads, pickles, curries and fries.

Goa, the Jewel of India, is dotted with several churches and temples, which are known for their excellent architecture. These churches and temples dating back to the 16th and early 17th centuries, reflect the peaceful co-existence of Hindus and Christians in Goa for many centuries. Goa Carnival Goa Carnival :
Goa Carnival is the most eagerly awaited event in Goa. Celebrated in the month of February every year, the festival is exclusive and unique to Goa. Introduced by the Portuguese, who ruled over Goa for 450 years, Goa carnival is the festival of colour, dance and music. A large number of tourists visit Goa during the festival to enjoy and participate in the event.


Goa Beaches :
Goa is best-known for golden beaches, which stretch across its 100 kms shoreline. Some of the beaches are old fishing villages which are best for unwinding and relax, while some are specially prepared for tourists. Goa beaches are well-appointed with almost every facility like the hotels, resorts, beach shacks and small restaurants. Tourists can enjoy delicious sea food, or shop at beach bazaars.

About a third of Goa's total land area is covered by forests. Goa has few wildlife reserves, among them Bhagwan Mahavir National Park is prominent one. The park spreading over an area of 107 sq km, has a large population of leopard, chital and sloth bear and also several avian species.
